I'm celebrating one year free of Bulimia, the chains, the behaviors, the terrible depression associated with... I am free!
I don't really have time to reflect, I'm on the way to the airport, onaccounta I HAVE A LIFE NOW! I'm in Florida! How's that for free?!
But I do have time to tell you, I feel so very strong, and healthy, and proud! Of me!
And just a quick list of my resources, in no particular order, these things energized me, inspired me, rocketed me forward, and sometimes picked me up, dusted me off,and set me back on track:
~My mom-telling my mom was the single most important thing I did. Her support was phenomenal!
~Jon Kabat Zinn-Full Catastrophe Living
~Elizabeth Gilbert-Eat,Pray,Love
~What the Bleep Do We Know (movie)
~Laughter Yoga,deep breathing,stretching,and most importantly, LAUGHTER!
~counseling, one on one, was helpful, but I didn't keep up with it, should go back...
`Tai Chi
~Prayer-that's a new one for me...
~Setting a goal-counting the days helped during the first couple months, and then it was counting months... and now years!!
~DS-immeasurable help and support here!
~My family doctor-telling him, and the support he gave me, and ordered tests, and took me seriously
~my husband,I didn't tell him about the ED, but I did tell him about the alcohol, and he's been so great, so wonderful...
~BUBBLES!!! I should've listed this first!
~candles. Lighting candles and praying has been such a peace-bringing addition to my life
~care packages-I've started gathering trinkets and candies and little notes and phrases and quotes, and I package them up and send them to the people I love. This has kept the doors open between myself and my daughters especially, at a very difficult time in our lives...
~KIVA-a wonderful organization, women empowering women around the world, it feels so good to participate! Look it up! Anyone can help, and it just... it's so very... just do it!!!
~new puppy. She is a clown, my very own personal clown. Highly recommend puppies.
~horses-Horses are the best listeners on the planet. You can tell a horse anything!
I guess, looking over the beginnings of my list, and that is just the beginning, I have so many many resourses, and so do you... But just what I've listed so far, what's working for me is reaching out, telling, asking for help, utilizing my local library, and choosing some tangible, physical, very VISUAL tools too, to keep me interested, excited, and eager for more!
Thanks, everyone who's helped me and supported me this year! There is hope! 31 years of bulimia is very hard to overcome, to rewire your brain, to break out of that terrible mind-set. But I am doing it! I still have work to do, rebuilding, but once the chains are broken, anything is possible! Sky's the limit, and I wish, hope, and pray for this, for anyone reading, I want this for you, I'm excited to tell you, it is possible, grab onto your health, your life, and don't let go!
