Eating Disorders Support Group
Eating disorders are marked by an obsessive need to control the intake and/or purging of food. This community is dedicated to those struggling on the road to recovery. Join to discuss your experience with others and find support. Get advice, ask questions, and meet others who are going through similar struggles.
I think you'll find that we are all here for each other, no matter what, and that anything you have questions about - or need that extra hug - you can find here. So many stories and people who have been battling this demon. It's heartbreaking, but a great release to finally find a community that understands, and can bond, with your story.
Nice to see you here.
Do you get help from a doctor or hospital?
I've had EDs for 20 years, diagnosed with anorexia but also binge. Diagnosed with depression at the same time and still struggle with other addictions.
This group is great.
i need to get a team together again but don't know where to start. nor do i have the money to do that.
i dont know what to do!??!
a little background on me: i began binge eating when i was in 6th grade in response to child abuse. soon, it became so ingrained in me that i didn't see anything wrong with it. sadly, no one noticed or mentioned this to me. it continued untill last year in april when i believe god showed me i had a problem. in july, i started blogging and opening up to friends. (this has been VITAL in my recovery. i strongly encourage you to do the same. blogs don't have to be public. monitor them as closely as you want. it just helps to write.) i have officially been on this journey for 10 months. although i haven't been officially diagnosed, i am fully convince i have BED (binge eating disorder). i have all the symptoms and behaviors, and i periodically starve after bingeing. if you need a friend, send me an e-mail.
I'm not too sure how the American system works, I live in England, but I would recommend talking to your doctor and perhaps he/she will be able to referre you to someone, or somewhere.
It's a really difficult battle. Identifying your weaknesses and trying to fight them is a big challenge but keep fighting on.
I can relate to so much of how you are feeling. We're all here for you, and will always listen. Please don't feel ashamed to talk about your feelings, many of us are probably feeling the same, and so much comfort can come from knowing that you're not alone in this.
I joined this site recently and I've found the people on here to be so lovely and more supportive than I could have ever imagined.
Take care.
