i am a musician. music has helped me deal with everything in my life. the fastest way to tell me anything is to say it with a song.
throughout the course of this journey, there have been several songs which have either said what i couldn't or given me strength in times of weakness. i made a playlist of these songs and put them on my ipod. each song was chosen for a specific reason. the playlist is REALLY long. these songs are:
coming to terms by carolina liar-this is my oh my god. i have an ED. song. "i'm coming to terms/i'm starting to learn/this ain't all it's cracked up to be/cause i'm using you/you're using me/it's never as easy as we believe"
show me what i'm looking for by carolina liar-this song is literally a prayer. "save me, i'm lost/oh lord, i've been waiting for you...don't let go/i've wanted this far too long/mistakes become regrets/i've learned to love abuse"
there comes a time be celine dion-this song means so much to me because i felt so strongly that god was speaking to me through it. the lyrics are here: http://www.celinedion.com/celinedion/english/music.cgi?album_id=25&band=2&song_id=11
my love by celine dion-i felt celine was describing my pent up emotions. "i'll stand tall to get by/no matter how hard i try to hide...somehow i forgot how to ease my pain"
that's the way it is by celine dion-my recovery song... another one of those god songs. "i can read your mind/and i know your story/i see what you're going through/it's an uphill climb, and i'm feelin' sorry/but i know it will come to you yeah/don't surrender, 'cause you can win"
from the ashes by martina mcbride-"for all that i'm losing/much more will i gain/the hard part is choosing/to change what needs changed/my step will be much lighter/with these demons off my chest/i'm born a better spiritb/and lay the old to rest"
change by taylor swift-"we're getting stronger now...you can walk away/say we don't need this/but there's something in your eyes sayin' we can beat this...the time will come for us to finally win/and we'll sing halelujah...it's the fight of our lives/but we'll stanony, just trying to find a friendd up champions tonight"
sober by pink-she wrote this about her struggle with alcohal "when it's good, then it's good/it's so good till it goes bad/till you're trying to find the you that you once had/i've heard myself cry never again/broken down in agony/just trying to find a friend"
you're not my god by keith urban-best keith song ever.

brave by idina menzel-"i've been running in your direction for too long now/i lost my own reflection...if this is my rite of passage that somehow leads me home/i might be afraid/but it's my turn to be brave"
i'm gonna take that mountain by reba mcintire-"it's overwhelming loking up/and knowing it's the challenge of/me against this heartache to survive/i may slip and i may fall/but even if i have to crawl/i'm gonna break through to the healing side"
jesus take the wheel by carrie underwood-"i'm sorry for the way i've been living my life/i know i've got to change/...jesus, take the wheel"
more beautiful you by jonny diaz-one of my closest friends sent me the song. it specifically speaks of ED''s, and the power of god's love.
Little girl fourteen flipping through a magazine
Says she wants to look that way
But her hair isn't straight her body isn't fake
And she's always felt overweight
Well little girl fourteen I wish that you could see
That beauty is within your heart
And you were made with such care your skin your body and your hair
Are perfect just the way they are
There could never be a more beautiful you
Don't buy the lies disguises and hoops they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you
Little girl twenty-one the things that you've already done
Anything to get ahead
And you say you've got a man but he's got another plan
Only wants what you will do instead

Well little girl twenty-one you never thought that this would come
You starve yourself to play the part
But I can promise you there's a man whose love is true
And he'll treat you like the jewel you are
So turn around you're not too far
To back away be who you are
To change your path go another way
It's not too late you can be saved
If you feel depressed with past regrets
The shameful nights hope to forget
Can disappear they can all be washed away
By the one who's strong can right your wrongs
Can rid your fears dry all your tears
And change the way you look at this big world
He will take your dark distorted view
And with His light He will show you truth
And again you'll see through the eyes of a little girl
That there could never be a more beautiful you
