Yeah, I think the same as you, not just because I am in the situation of having all of my control taken off me and not being able to do anything without my parents monitoring it and my mum is definitely not going to let me stop doing this, its infuriating, how can I live life with so little to no control in anything anymore.. I hate it, plus they said they are going to help me maintain the weight I was, but I'm still binging when they go to bed and have gained heaps :'( Seeing my psychologist tomorrow anyway, not going to bother with the GP really anymore but yeah, will see if she can help me out at all, although she is finishing up working there like next week :/
Do you know of Arielle and Wednesday Warriors (Youtube)? Arielle has a lot of words of wisdom that can be supportive.
Hope you have a good eating day!
I see how yes, other than those negative sites people can go on these days, there are also so many positive things online and so widely and freely available to help you out in wherever you might be struggling in.
You're right that not one simple fix is possible or the same for everyone, its just hard to find that one thing that can help me out and figure out what I can do and what others can do to help me get out of this yo-yoing and hole, and to just move on with my life.
Thanks Kathy, really means a lot and I too hope I have a good eating day as well. You do too! :)
It IS supposed to be supportive and it doesn't sound like your mom's comments are at all supportive. It DOES involve professionals, esp a counselor, but a Dr and a dietician would also be really helpful.
I'd esp say that a dietitian should be involved in your case, as your mom's 1000 cal daily limit is WAY too low to be healthy, and will just slow your metabolism down and make you constantly hungry, which can lead to binging. And not allowing any junk food is also not good.
No, you shouldn't be eating a lot of junk, but NORMAL HEALTHY eating does include some stuff that isn't super healthy, and being too restrictive of any type or amount of food tends to drive an ED and make it stronger, and it definitely does not allow you to learn what normal eating is about.
It's great that your mom knows about your ED and wants to help, but she is not following the Maudsley protocol and she is too close to you....she needs to get professionals involved for both of your benefits......plus, EDs are not just about food or about weight. That is a symptom and the underlying issues need to be addressed, which is another reason it is so important to involve a counselor....and those underlying issues are part of the Maudsley approach, too.
