Hello. I have recently come back to my eating disorder after much time away. Now I feel trapped within it again. My own health risks are not enough to motivate me at the moment. I so desperately want to be healthy again, but I cant seem to break free. What helps you guys stay motivated when you feel lost in your eating disorder mind?

I think about how much my recovery means to my family and my friends, and find something artistic to do! In particular I've gotten addicted to cross-stitch because it takes a long time and work and keeps me distracted from ED thoughts. Make sure to spend time with loved ones, and take opportunities to go out and socialize with them! Keep us updated on how you're doing! I hope you find the strength to fight back against ED, he is so harmful to you and every day you listen makes it worse! I am struggling in recovery now as well, and some days are better than others, but recovery is worth it!

I try to remember my babies that are old enough to see me do this and to be learning these patterns. I try to remember I want them to see their mommy strong and healthy and not fear for my health. I try to remember my career that I worked a decade for and remember the people that believe I am worth so much more than a number on a scale or a size of my jeans. I try to remember my husband who thinks I am beautiful and smart and amazingly successful. I try to remember how much I am losing to this terrible disease. Sometimes that's enough to fight back or at least to hang on. I think of if people knew my secret, how ashamed I would feel. How everyone would be shocked by the person they admire having such a tragic illness. I try to remember I don't want to die from this, I don't want to die at my own hand. I want to live but I don't yet know how to do that, but I know if I hang on each day I hopefully get a little closer to living free from this. I struggle to feel the hope as real but I know it has to be and I just keep hanging the f*** on. Were all in this together. Sorry for the jumbled kind of off track thoughts

Family and friends are my big helpers especially my kids. Their 16 and 13. From me suffering it for so long. From 3 hospital stays and 2 inpatient stays. They are very intuitive to it. And know what I'm doing to them every time they ask aren't you going to eat breaks my heart. Sometimes I can do it. Not all the time tho.

For me, no one knows about me binge eating. I keep it from my parents and my sister. But I really hope that you have someone that you can talk to about this. They could help you out. Hugs Laya

Thank you all for your support, suggestions, and sharing :) It truly means a lot to me. I have begun seeing a therapist weekly. And I am slowly getting into yoga as a hobby.....hobbies seem to be helpful for people. I can now go two days between binges, but I am still disappointed in my self for not being able to go longer.
