Oftentimes, with these artificial sweetners, the three amino acids that bind and make aspartame also work to reduce, in a saturated fashion, the amount of serotonin available in the brain.
The small intestine produces the vast majority of your serotonin and a reduction of available sugars will drop this production accordingly.
The craving for sweets is your brains way of saying..."hey, I need some serotonin up here".
You need to eat and not feel guilty. It's other things that can help calm you down...like massage, neurofeedback, and really deep conversation to allay fear and calm your spirit.
