I read your story and it seems similar as mine, except I am far from the 95 lb mark. I am a non-eater myself, especially worse in times of stress or depression. Plus sometimes when I'm alone I simply forget to eat-honest. It seems you do have a decent idea of food-you mentioned you "love food". I have battled my food issues for over twenty years and unfortunately I see food as evil-though I do bake for everyone when I am stressed. Lol Not to pry, but is this a new issue for you or have you dealt with this before the divorce and other stressors? I do agree that no matter what type of food issue folks have stress can attribute to it. All I can say is I think you came to the right place for support. SO welcome!
I believe this started when I was a very young child. My mom was a stay at home mom and my father was a workaholic who never got home for dinner on time. Every single night at dinner, when he finally got home, the tension at the family table was so enormous I could barely stand to eat, but of course I had to clean my plate.
I can remember waiting till my mom was not looking and giving it to the dog. One night I was so upset I dropped it piece by piece behind the radiators. (It was a very old house).
I raised two children just fine and got past it, or so I thought, and they are very healthy eaters and amazing cooks. It is the stress and anxiety and and anger over things I guess.
I fantasize about food but then don't want it. I am very disordered.
But it is good to see why and thank you for welcoming me. This helps a lot.
When I was separating from my ex I basically cracked up. Its tough. Hang in there - the anxiety, the fear, the confusion do eventually start to clear up.
Im new here too. Hearing others mention those childhood eating situations makes me remember how i hated eating as a child. I was always so tiny and frail as a child and didnt like the way most food tasted besides sweets. I remember my grandparents constantly telling me i had to eat and how my daycare teachers tried to force feed me and how i would throw up on them. My parents never made an issue they just let me eat the things that i liked but maybe being forced feed by teachers and constantly hearing how i had to eat from other family members made me this way? I have been fine for the past 16 years now, well every now and then ill have a slip and start starving myself and its especially during stress and difficult times and it makes me feel like i have something that i can control. I have a little girl who is 3 years old and she is exactly like me, doesnt want to eat anything besides sweets or her milk bottles and i am really a little worried that she will develop an eating disorder.
