Eating Disorders Support Group
Eating disorders are marked by an obsessive need to control the intake and/or purging of food. This community is dedicated to those struggling on the road to recovery. Join to discuss your experience with others and find support. Get advice, ask questions, and meet others who are going through similar struggles.
Asking for help means exposing things about yourself to another person & that is risky. Asking for help means that you might get better, and that means change and facing uncertainty (because you might not be able to picture what recovery looks like), and that is risky.
It is totally worth the risk.
then when it comes to seeing a professional, a psychiatrist is just a med pusher........ for someone to actually talk to there are counselors, social workers, & psychologists....... & grps led by them too, & many of these work on sliding scales or thru community clinics that can even be free...if there is a YWCA (not YMCA) near you, they could help, too
& then there are also dieticians who work with ED clients....many are willing to do sliding scale, too
