Maybe some of this will help?...
Kathy; She knows about my past of it, which is why I think she worries so much. Are there any other signs that the oesophagus could be damaged? I think I heard some stuff, but I'm not certain.
kpsurfer; Thank you for the information! Heartburn was something that was brought up to me several months ago, but I was told that was not it. Wow! Crazy how something like gum can have such an effect!
Also, about the pacemaker thing, I'll go more into detail about how that came up. I was in the hospital last June for chest pain and dizziness. They had me do an ekg and in the middle of it the one administering it was making conversation and asked me when I got my pacemaker. I do not have one and when I said so she didn't say anything. I was put in a room to wait for my lab results and more tests when a female doctor came in. First thing she commented on was my pacemaker. Again, I explained that I didn't have one. She looked stunned, left the room, and I didn't think much of it as I was trying to find a position to lay in that made the room stop spinning. I got my chest x-rays and then a male doctor came in to speak to me. And again, the pacemaker was brought up.
I guess I'm just kind of curious because I don't know what that means. I know I have a fast resting heart rate, 130bpm, but I don't know if that would make it look like I have one.
