I used to have what I believed to be a real sensitivity or total intolerance to several foods. Often simple things like even cucumbers would send my body reeling. I diagnosed myself as lactose intolerant as well and avoided dairy even on binges.
What I learned was two-fold. First, because of binge-purge cycles, my stomach developed a gastric delay. Food, regardless of what kind, stayed over long in my stomach causing a host of digestive problems from the top to the bottom. Once I started eating more normally, it subsided and is now non-existant. At the same time, I heard that women over 40 produce less digestive enzymes etc due to changing hormonal levels and thus food does not digest as it should. I countered this problem by taking digestive enzymes at every meal. I continue this practice to this day and it works like a charm. You don't mention if you are on other meds. If you are, acidophilis helps tremendously and keep the body in balance. Also helps with elimination issues quite a bit. I buy the enzymes at the health food store usually though you can get them at Walmart. Acidophilis can be bought anywhere as well. Just make sure to keep it in the fridge as the good bacteria die off at room temperature.
Hope that is helpful to you. Please keep posting and update further. Take care!
