Like Lucky I've had mine for 30+ years, also as a result from childhood trauma.
Some wounds take a LONG time to heal.
We'll all get there, no matter how long it takes:)
It was a long difficult process but really worth it in the end. If you have a trauma in your past I'd recommend healing it so you can move forward.
There is a lot of great support here....welcome to the group!
I'm truly an "old-timer", 55. I've battled with an eating disorder for a very long time. Just recently I was in a treatment center. I've done well since out--1 slip and the urge to do it again but have resisted. It's never ending for me. My family is horribly critical and skeptical. I guess I have given them reason to not trust me but now I seek their support. It doesn't seem to go that way.
Yes, I feel old too. It just seems to odd to me to have an eating disorder at this stage of my life. With work and the silencing of that ED voice, maybe I'll get out of this completely. Here's hoping!

I feel once you've battled it for a certain length of time that it's never going to leave us. At least that's how I feel. I feel trapped for life. And, I don't remember life without it....I honestly truly don't.
