In 2011 I had joined this website because I was struggling with my eating disorder. I was able to break away from it for a couple of years and had been doing really well. I no longer took ridiculous diet pills and restricted food intake while working out excessively. Lately I have found myself comparing myself to others and contemplating if it'd be worth it to live my old life style. I know that I am a better person without letting my eating disorder define me, but the idea of going back to that lifestyle is comfortable to me.

Hi hunni, I know it's comfortable, but it's also filled with pain and sadness. You don't want to go back to it, believe me. Think of all the reasons you broke away from it in the first place, and try to think of how much stronger you are now. It's worth the fight x

It can feel comfortable to punish yourself by restricting and over-exercising. It can even feel natural. But of course theres something wrong there. I hope you can communicate with others rather than just comparing and remember youre worthy of being nourished and of being yourself.

I know exactly how you feel! I was anorexic for two years of my life, and it really took a toll on me physically and emotionally. I am no longer anorexic, as I was able to beat it, but that does not mean that I do not still harbor anorexic thoughts. I have days where I just hate myself for the way my body looks, and instantly the first thing I think to do is restrict my eating and exercise like crazing. I know that I am my own worst enemy. I look in the mirror and see a chubby girl and that never seems to go away. I continuously compare myself to the women around me, and I always feel like I do not measure up. It is a constant struggle, however, I have developed a sort of "whatever" mantra to get over these impulses. I just remind myself that I love who I am regardless of what other people think of me, and when I look in the mirror and try to tell myself that I am fat, I just look and say "whatever". It actually works. The "whatever" mantra reminds me that as long as I am happy with the way that I look nothing else matters. After all, all bodies are beautiful. We should stop hating ourselves because we enjoy life to the fullest, which does include eating all kinds of food that life has to offer. I must admit that the first real time I was able to break away from anorexia was right after a serious car crash that I was involved in. I realized in that moment that life is precious and short and there is no reason for me to waste all my time worrying about what I am going to eat. I need to enjoy all of the things I love during the short time that I have on this earth. If my body wants cheesecake, then I am damn well going to feed it some cheesecake and not worry about it! My body is a temple and I will treat it that way, and you should too! There is no reason to not enjoy food. My only advice would be to just enjoy all things in moderation. Hope my words help!
