THANK YOU for writing today. Your note inspired me to feel better about what I am doing and the steps I am taking. It distracted me enough to take my mind off my B.E.D. urges. I am going to say a prayer for you right now that you find the strength to make the changes you need to make for a healthier lifestyle. Try to be honest with your family and ask them for help.
p.s. I do NOT wake up at night anymore feeling disgusted about myself. I wake up every morning feeling healthier, proud of myself and looking forward to discovering what new healthy thing I can make for today.
Good luck and keep in touch.
Glad you are both here and I hope the group can offer you some support and encouragement.
I LOVE the tone of both of your posts regarding letting go of the shame of our addiction. Shame helps to perpetrate the cycle of EDs so we really need to work hard to let go of that. Being here and talking about it is the first step to doing that!
HUGS to you both
Jen
This is my first time to write. I know the dos and don'ts, but working the program is more than knowledge. If it was knowledge I would not have the diabetes.
I wanted to respond to your post as well. My doctor is very concerned about how close I am to progressing into full blown Type 2 Diabetes. My mom and two of my older sisters have it. I am borderline. I neglected myself for many many years and am now struggling to avoid it. It may be too late but we'll see within a few months. I spend a lot of time looking for low carb snack and meal ideas since I am constantly hungry and looking for ways to feel satisfied. Thank God for the internet which has a wealth of information. CONGRATULATIONS on your hard work, weight loss, exercise and getting your numbers under control. I understand and share your concerns about the mental roadblocks we have to deal with regarding binge eating and cravings. I have to constantly find ways to distract myself when I feel myself slipping. Just keep the faith. Keep posting here when you need a boost. Keep reminding yourself how far you have come and how much you have accomplished. Eat to Live and don't live to eat. YOU DESERVE A GREAT, LONG HEALTHY LIFE.
I think I am still in shock of the diagnosis since I have spent the past five years thinking I had some type of food issue or whatever. I have no idea how to deal with an eating disorder but I went to my psych. doctor this morning (I also have major depressive disorder) and he prescribed me medication and referred me to a therapist. I have my first appointment with the therapist in two weeks and I am hoping my insurance approves my medication soon. In the meantime, I am eating everything in sight. I just want to be able to fit into my clothes at this point.
