I have been restricting, but I put the skids on it, so I just cut down on what I was eating at mealtime (no more 2nd helpings) and that's where I'm going to leave it. Plus, it helps to remember what staff [in assisted living]said to me when they found out about my ED history last year,"Just take it one meal at a time..." That's hard to do, but it is possible. Could the stress of just having moved be contributing to your thoughts? As long as you don't have a history of over-exercising, is there a nearby gym where you can go and work out your stress? Another option to consider if you're at all religious, is you could pray and ask God to help you, I've done that at least a million times, will probably continue to do so. If you're not religious, just let that last comment go in one ear and out the other, 'cuz I know I don't like it when people preach to me. I hope this helps at least a little bit. Good luck.
Moving home can be immensely stressful and upsetting and the changes that go with it (is there a new job too or other new responsibilities?) may be triggering thoughts of getting back to some sort of familiar sense of control by controlling your diet. But fortunately youre questioning these urges as you realise that restricting is unhealthy and self-destructive.
As Electropro suggests it would be worthwhile looking for a crisis-centre or perhaps some charity organization that offers counselling or even just conversation/listening service. Is there a phone line you can call to talk to someone? In my area (not US) the main church operates a phone line for people who just need to talk.
Once you do get your health insurance could you see a nutritionist for some sensible talk on food and eating? Meanwhile it may be useful to analyse the feelings that go with this move. Or, on the other hand it may be more useful to try and get to know your new neighbourhood (for example by walking or cycling around) find some place you like and begin to integrate into your new home. Did you belong to any society/club/hobby group in your old town? If so, see if theres anything similar in your new town. A sense of belonging is a very powerful positive feeling. I hope you find it soon in your new life situation.
