Does anyone have body dimorphic disorder who could explain what it's like having it? Thanks!

I dont know, I have never been diagnosed with Body dismorphia, but I think having an ED and seeing yourself not how it really is can count. I always look at myself and see pounds of flesh that I would love to just cut off and get rid of! Then by some weird chance, I will take a glance at myself walking with my husband by a window or something, and I see myself for what I really look like, and I think, wow, why do I see what I see? I dont get it. That moment of seeing reality dose not stay long, but I relish it when I see it!

i haven't been diagnosed with it either. i haven't been diagnosed with any sort of eating disorder. but i see myself as huge. i see myself as ugly. i constantly pick at my skin trying to "fix" it. i can't help but exercise constantly and practically never eat. i used to be bulimic. my family told me i lost weight. but i don't see a change. i see myself as a fat horrendous girk with a messed up mind. i don't know if any of this counts.. but thats just how i feel.

Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) (previously known as Dysmorphophobia[1] is sometimes referred to as body dysmorphia or dysmorphic syndrome[2]) is a (psychological) Somatoform disorder in which the affected person is excessively concerned about and preoccupied by a perceived defect in his or her physical features (body image). Depending on the individual case, BDD may either be a somatoform disorder or part of an eating disorder or both: BDD always includes a debilitating or excessive fear of judgement by others, as is seen with social anxiety, social phobia and some OCD problems; or alternately may be a part of eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and compulsive overeating. Although the term "body dysmorphic disorder" itself describes only those excessive social acceptance fears that relate to one's personal body image. Depending on the individual it may or may not also be part of one of these wider or related syndromes.- wikkapedia, thank you!

I think that the definition fits most people with an ED, I know that it fits me to a T. Micheal Jackson is a famous person with the disorder. He put his body through heck to try to make it what he wanted, but could never reach a content look that he was satisfied with, sad really.
