sadly, in my area, there is little to none in the way of support groups. I found one several years back and tried it. I was the oldest one there, and was mostly ignored..even by the facilitator! I didn't stay there long.
Sorry can't add anything more regarding support groups. I live "downunder" and there is very very little in the way of support groups here, only OA (and AA and NA for those who need them etc).
I used to attend OA but at the time found it didn't quite "fit right" for my own ED journey. However learnt some useful tools and/or practices which have enhanced my journey of recovery (30+ years), e.g abstinence, service etc.
For me personally, I have gained the most freedom and healing from attending therapy for 7+ years with a Psychotherapist here in NZ. I needed to have a safe professional who I could build a long-term relationship with who could "walk" me out of the pain and brokenness I'd survived.
I very much recommend online support groups because for me being in New Zealand, thousands of kilometres away from anywhere else in the world, you can feel quite alone! And the support network for serious EDs here is very limited.
All the best for your recovery from Bulimia. I've suffered from both extreme anorexia and BED (binge eating disorder) so I know the deep shame and pain of the out of control eating model. It's horrid! But sanity and recovery, one day at a time, is possible. And it's well worth the effort!!!
Bye for now, Kim :)
Kim, thanks so much for your comment.. I am struggling but finding motivation and strength through these forums.
