Thanks, love. Just totally confused. Think I may call my dr and see if I can get my old neuro records (he skipped town!) transferred to a a new neuro. I started just falling asleep in church last nite so I left early.

Don't panic. My husband has dystonia but he has never had seizures. Have you been tested for vaso vagel syncopy? It is fairly common, and a little scary until you know what is happening and learn to control it. Do you get dizzy before the seizure? Can you feel the seizure happening or are you blacked out? I have suffered from PTSD after I was raped and haven't really had an episode that I can't deal with for a long time. Stress is a crazy thing. I have an overactive vaso vagel nerve which has caused me to have seizures and pass out. My blood pressure drops and that is what causes the fainting. What has your doctor said about these seizures? How is your blood pressure

I do have episodes that seem like seizures but they are dystonia i call then convulsions I never lose consciousness but i flail all over the place and look like one of our heroes Michael J. Fox it is so violent .So there are episodes with dystonia that definitely look like seizures our twisting and jerking. God bless you.

Hey CARTER & SBCOOK - No, I know I'm going into jerk fest when I get the tingles all over and weak in my muscles. Then I usually just go all weak/limp and jerk/twitch. The meds help as I can usually feel the weak/limp as well as the tingles start. The tests show no abnormalities in the brain (family would disagree LOL) and no epilepsy. I can go into a jerk fest if I strain my muscles either pushing or pulling to hard or over exerting. Go figure.

I was just diagnosed a couple months ago and wasn't so bad at the time, just head and should jerks. Since then I have had a episode where my whole body jerked. I ended up at the hospital...They told me it was really bad muscle spasms and gave me Valium...Now I take 10mg (I think) of Valium when I feel a really bad episode coming on....it helps. My neurologist diagnosed me with a mild form of segmental (cervical) dystonia but my doctor is sending me back because I have gotten a lot worse. Make sure that you go back to your neurologist to make sure that they are not seizures, that they are just muscle spasms...I'm not really sure what they are called I hope my neuro can tell me. It was really scary but I don't think it was a seizure...I go back soon to find out exactly what it was...Sorry about rattling on...its all new to me...take care Cindy

Dear RAVENCJW - The episodes I experience are not "technically" seizures. I was hooked up to the eeg the entire time I was having one and nothing showed. So, since all other items have been ruled out, at least to date, it's Dystonia. Mine gets worse with erratic weather and stress. Also, if I strain my muscles pushing/pulling it freaks them out and they go all spaghetti like on me. I call the "jerk-fests", seizures, or episodes as I really don't know how else to refer to them. They've settled down a lot compared to what they used to be. But when I feel a "fit" coming on with all the weak muscles & tingles, I grab the meds.
