Dystonia (literally, "abnormal muscle tone") is a generic term used to describe a neurological movement disorder involving involuntary, sustained muscle contractions. Dystonia may affect muscles throughout the body, in certain parts of the body, or may be confined to particular muscles or muscle groups.

17 years old when my life turned upside down

I was 17 years old when my life turned upside down...it changed forever....before that I was a healthy, happy, athletic and on my way to big things.I feel like my life ended before it really even started.I had big dreams.I wanted to study abroad in Italy but of course that couldnt happen being in and out of the hospital due to a brain injury/ brain lesions.Its sad because unfortunately this is my reality but I'm trying my best to make my life better by volunteering to help people with parkinsons in kickboxing plus I also take the class and since I have a love for animals ,I also volunteer at an animal shelter.I am now 28 years old and I'm very sad because my life should DEFINETLY NOT be what it is today soo in return I'm angry, dissapointed in myself for not reaching any of my goals including having a college degree that I always wanted.I do have some form of education because I was able to excell in my vet assistanting class and receive my certification to become a vet assistant but to me since I'm a perfectionist it isnt enough to satisfy me! I'm looking for friends and someone who can relate to me soo if you read this and seem interested in my story and would like to talk please respond!!thanks ttys

I can relate, I have been let down in many areas of my life too, dropped out of college right before graduation, a failed marriage after a year...but I did get a wonderful son from the union......then I had two failed back surgeries that lemme permanently disabled. I applaud you for volunteering t the animal shelter...and who knows maybe some day you can finish up your vet tech degree. Don’t be so hard oyourself...take each day by and look at the little things you.ve accomplished...that’s how I.ve had to do it, and that works....look at each day...even make a list, of things you are to do, checking them off will bring you great satisfaction.
