Dyscalculia is a lesser known disability, similar and potentially related to dyslexia and Developmental Dyspraxia. Dyscalculia occurs in people across the whole IQ range, and sufferers often, but not always, also have difficulties with time, measurement, and spatial reasoning. Current estimates suggest it may affect about 5% of the population. Although some researchers believe that dyscalculia necessarily implies mathematical reasoning difficulties as well as difficulties with arithmetic operations, there is evidence (especially from brain damaged patients) that arithmetic (e.g. calculation and number fact memory) and mathematical (abstract reasoning with numbers) abilities can be dissociated.

I was always good at other areas of mathemetics atithmatic was my problem in fact I found that the higher level and more abstract the math was the better I liked it.

I HATE MATH. Always have, always will. I do fine with basics, but anything higher than divison HECK NO! I saw my youngest sister's algebra book a few years ago, when she was in high school, and I refer to algebra and math in that area as 'scary math'. Letters, lines, ???????? Forget that. I've always had problems with counting, as well as telling time. I still can't read Roman Numerals, and my watches HAVE to be face. I can't have just the numbers. I need to be able to figure out what the time is on a face, otherwise, I'll forget to tell time.
