Hi all! I am new to this forum and not yet diagnosed with Dyscalculia but think I have it. This all stemmed from seeing a therapist about being tested for Dyslexia. He told me to look into Dyspraxia and that is how I found out about Dyscalculia. I have to see him in the next few weeks to get tested for Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and Dyscalculia.
Dyscalculia explain so much. It is explains why I can't ever figure out sales tax and tips, why I cannot read maps (they just look like lines to me), why I still struggle with basic math, why, at the age of 20, I still often count with my fingers, and why I can have someone explain to me how to solve a math problem and then forget forget about it less than 10 seconds later. It would also explain why I failed REMEDIAL Algebra at least twice, but got an A in remedial Geometry, though I don't really know why that is.
Anyway, I am wondering who can test me? Can my therapist? How much does it cost? Can insurance cover it? How long will it take?
