Hi, I'm new to this group. Its 2013, and don't see any recent posts. I Have suffered through the usual math related issues since childhood. It is great to read all of the posts with similar problems. I've learned various coping mechanisms throughout the years including laughing at myself when I can't count change, telling people that I count on my fingers and reaching for a calculator for the simplist of problems (to double check of course). I also experienced problems with learning how to tell time, right from left, measuring, losing things, not good at names, etc... I figured out how to do simple alegbra by memorizing each lesson week by week. This did not stop my math "anxiety" but I was able to pass technical college math. I did not have diffuculties in any other subject except biology, therefore I took geology in college instead. I currently have a career in public service which I have been in for the past 14 years (give or take a few weeks, lol). I did very poorly in math throughour school, and was told not to take math in college (and how was that supposed to work) however since my paraticular fields of study didn't require much (direct) math, I graduated with a BA in college, and landed firmly on the deans list. I was also honored as the high point scholar of my graduating class in a specialized field. I continue to struggle with math, and expect I always will, however I find my life including these challenges very interesting and fun. Anyone else here have comments?

I've struggled with math my entire life and was finally diagnosed with dyscalculia at 15. Right now, I'm struggling through college. I have tons of issues with time and not having a sense of direction. I can't count to save my life either.
