My daughter is currently a 6th grade student at a private school "designed" for kids with dyslexia and related disorders. Well, they don't help my child with her dyscalculia. We are returning to public school next year. During the school year she has a "C" average in math, A-C average in all other subjects. Her big problem area is standardized tests. Even though they do modifications with time and test group size, she still fails the math portion of these tests. Any advice!?

A few years ago I took the ACT and scored into a math class higher than what my ability level was, I totally bombed the math part but, did great on the reading and writing sections. The reason I mention this is because I think standardized tests are crap and are an ineffective way to measure any child's potential. Did they allow your daughter to use a calculator or a piece of scrap paper during testing? One of my friends has dyslexia and she has told me that one reason why she doesn't do well on tests is because of anxiety. Maybe give her a really big pep talk the next time she has to test. Simple, but effective. Good Luck and I hope for the best :)

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus).
