Dry eyes is an eye disease caused by decreased tear production or increased tear film evaporation. Symptoms include burning and a sandy-gritty eye irritation that gets worse as the day goes on. The symptoms are often caused by a loss of water from the tears that results in tears that are too "salty" or hypertonic.

helpful eye drops

While seeing a physician for an unrelated issue I was told I likely have Sjogren's syndrome. This doc also prescribed eyedrops that are a saturated solution of potassium iodide, 3 - 5 drops twice a day in juice. The Rx had to be filled at a compounding pharmacy but it is probably the most helpful thing I've used for my dry eyes.

Is it restatis? Its the best thing I have found so far.
Its in little vials and is a milky like color.

Oops. Big misinformation in my last post. It isn't eye drops, they are drops I drink with juice twice a day. It is a saturated solution of potassium iodide, from a compounding pharmacy, and the pharmacist says it acts by "making everything in your body that can spurt - spurt!"
In any case, it provides a more constant layer of moisture for my eyes. It also makes my nose run!

hattie886 I know all too well about the nose running thing I have had many troubles with this all my life and really really want to end it. I see people all over that don't have problems with their nose running every second.
Its embarrassing too.
I hate it when I try to eat in a restaurant.
I think it sucks. I was hearing that eye plugs will help with that.
I will hopefully get to try them soon.
I am still trying to get things done to be more healthy.
