Dry Eyes Support Group

Dry eyes is an eye disease caused by decreased tear production or increased tear film evaporation. Symptoms include burning and a sandy-gritty eye irritation that gets worse as the day goes on. The symptoms are often caused by a loss of water from the tears that results in tears that are too "salty" or hypertonic.

Can you help support for older person with dry eye

Hi,


I am currently working with a woman of 82 years who wants to find support from others with dry eye. She does not have access to the internet and would find it difficult to access online support. Are there any groups that she could attend that are in the Tameside/Stockport/Oldham area that anyone knows of? Or can anyone offer me some assistance so that I am better able to support her.


I work in Tameside for the voluntary sector and my role is to try to reduce social isolation in older people. I am not medically trained.


Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if any real-life meetups about dry eye. Point this woman toward HydroEye, which is the only supplement that went thru a gold-standard clinical study. Ask her doctor if HydroEye(bring the photo of ingredients from Amazon) will interfere with her medications.

HydroEye is the base of a dry eye treatment. I learned that a while back, and have been using it for years.
