Brendan always charges to the front of the line or through people when he see's something he wants (food on a table). He will push his way through but that's about it. If he pushes it is more to clear the path then to actually push. I have always prevented him from observing violence. I would not even let my kids have pillow fights because he doesn't know the difference between a pillow and a brick. There was a while at school when he had a girl in his class room that had some outburst and I told the school anytime there is aggressive behavior they are to take him for a walk. Not realizing good/bad behavior he will copy. She use to have a thing for Brendan also where she grabbed his glasses and broke the, scratched him etc. Is you childs classroom controlled? Could she have seen something on TV? Definately something to think about.

yes, i think this incident is based on the aggression between her sister who is 9 and my l1 year old with Down's

Her doctor said it is because she cannot verbally communicate that this acting out happened.

We are observing the choking episode and think she picked it up from her sister who does this in a joking way. Jaqui doesn't know the difference, as you mentioned with a pillow or a brick.

I try not to let them watch anything horrible or violent. But now I realize that these little video games are quite aggressive. I unplugged the wii. thank you for your help.

From my experience communication is a big part. You mentioned your daughter is 11. What type of methods do you use to help her communicate. Teaching her to communicate should help some of the aggression. It's helped with us, we just have the issues with him impulsiveness. We are trying to slow him do so he can request rather than just take.

my daughter has moderate to severe down syndrome but is bright and can read and use a calculator. I am getting the impression she can be a bully, Her doctor said this episode is from not being able to express herself.

I am increasing her speech therapy...3 hours at school and 2 hours at home, plus using a metronome to help with her speed and fluency.

I also found out today the other little girl has frequently teased her.

I don't live with Megan's father, so when she spends weekends with him I have asked him to knock off the rough house playing with her because I noticed too, that she couldn't determined the differece between what could cause injury and what couldn't. Naturally, it took an arguement between us before he finally stopped. Your right, Bonnie, about the pillow and brick. I always worried that Megan would hurt someone unintentionally, especially my grand babies. We all know how strong our kids can be, so we need to keep that extra eye on them at all times. I'm constantly pointing out to Meg what could hurt and what won't.
