I have never been to a baby shower and I have no idea what kind of games are played at them.
I remember that it was fun as a kid to pitch pennies, but that would probably not be much fun at a baby shower.
What are the standard baby shower games?
Ha! Jeff, I wouldn't expect any men to know anything at all about baby showers. There is a trend now of daddy's attending, but there will be women only at the ones I'm giving. We do all kinds of silly ones...one that comes to mind is you put a bunch of cotton balls in a bowl, blindfold the participant, give her a large spoon, and have her dip the cottonballs out of the bowl, onto her head. It's really harder than it sounds, but just as corny! lol
For Becki's shower, everyone had a diaper pin pinned on and was instructed to not say the word baby throughout the shower. (I think we may have all started with five?) When someone said the word BABY, you took one of their pins, and whoever had the most pins at the end of the party won a prize. It was a fun opener.
It's so hard to remember because I had just finished tx and still in a brain fog.
Another game we played was to write as many baby items that begin with the letter of the babies first name in one minute or two. Whoever had the most wins a prize.
We also had everyone write the date they thought the baby would be born, and it went home with Momma.
We had a BRING A BOOK theme where everyone brought a book and set it in the basket and it went home with Momma. Such cute lil books for her to read to him.
Thanks Becky...we did the diaper pin one at her last shower, and I'm trying not to duplicate, but that one was fun! It's so funny to see ppl stop in mid-word. :-)
What a great idea about the books. I haven't been to one of those yet. I like the one with the name...that will be a very hard game though...her name is Zoe. lol
Hey Shadow, no, not yet. I was thinking about making one up with facts about babies, or ways to handle different situations, and the winner would be the person whose answers best matched the mother-to-be's. But I have not been that creative this week due to severe insomnia, so we'll see.
Here's an original I think... Have two life size baby dolls and two teams the teams have to put the hand they use daily behind their back and work with a partner who does the same using only their less used hand to dress the baby doll with powdered butt, diaper, onesie, booties, hat, and wrap the baby neatly in a blanket and give the dressed baby to the grandma or the mom -to- be if grandma is busy dressing the baby or doesn't attend the shower. It gets lots of laughs and plenty of action. When I did this for my daughters shower we use real cloth diapers that had to be folded and pinned it was such a Blast .
Have fun & Be Blessed!!!
Hepless, I have seen that before, and it is great fun! Thanks for the reminder!
Thanks LadyBug, I'll check out the site.
Shadow, I think you're right about it being too intellectual...some of the girls are young and have not yet had children, so I guess that idea's kaput.
Another game we played, Becki showed us things a baby will need on a tray and walked around for us to see. Then she left the room and we had to write down what she was wearing and had to describe HER. It was fun. :)
Sandy, how fun!!! I was in charge of the food, so luckily I didn't have to come up with games.

Very interesting.
I googled this topic just to see what would come up.
Bobbing for nipples sounds good.
Is that a standard game?
