Is your dog a part of the family really?

Just wanted to know if there are others here like my wife and I. I was just reading the thread about leaving your dog in a kennel. We would never do that. Duke is our kid. When we adopted him we went into it with the same ideas that you would have if adopting a human kid. We new that we would have Vet bills just like Dr bills. We knew that there would be things that we would have to pass on because we had him and you can not take dogs everywhere you go. We knew we would have him for the rest of his life. We dod not go anywhere that we cannot take him with us. When my parents died Debbie stayed at home while I went to Indiana for the funeral. We just did not even consider putting him in a kennel. We would not have put a human kid in a similar place in order to go to the funeral. Any time we go away for more than an hour or so we take him or we don't go. Just like having a human kid.

Are we strange? Are there any others here that think the same?

My dog is my baby.She'll be 2yrs old in 2 weeks.She has slept with me since the first night I got her.She was about 8 weeks old.LuLu is 3/4 cocker 1/4 mini dashound,all black.So cute was all ears when she was a baby.My sister brought her to me and said she's use to sleeping in a kennel at night.So I put her in there with a blanket and her stuffed animal she came with.She started to cry and in 2 seconds she was in bed with me and has slept with me every nite since.The kennel went in the garage.She goes to my mothers house,gets excited if you say"grandmas house"or to my sisters"aunties house".She goes where we go weather permitting.Overnites she comes with or I have a house sitter or stay home.Some people have to use a kennel,situations arise in some peoples lives where they have to use them or are ok with it.I know a woman who runs a very nice,clean,loving kennel its just something I hope I don't have to use.Some of them are very nice,I think it would be more tramatic on me then the dog.
