Well we were keeping an eye on a particular charity called Many Tears, for a new playmate for Alexi - we felt she was missing out being an only dog, and would love to have a doggy companion......finances have meant we weren't in a position to take on another dog though on a permanent basis. Well many tears do fostering as well, they try to get their rescues out to foster homes as soon as they can, so we decided to go down that line.

3 weeks ago, we went to the centre and collected our first foster dog. She was 6 years old, a Beagle, and had known nothing but living on a puppy farm. She would come and sniff you when you weren't looking and bolt away when you turned around.

In that 3 weeks we have seen her go from a very scared dog, to a very confident dog. Where she would drop to the floor all the time when you went out with her for a walk, now she walks along beautifully, we have even taken her `off lead' on a couple of occasions, and she responds to her name really well. At the start, if Alexi had finished her food and tried to take hers, she would go for alexi, the other night, alexi finished hers and went over to Dalia (foster dog) bowl and there wasn't even a growl...... At the start she was scared to go in the car in case we were taking her back.....today for the first time she got up and in the car with very little support.........instead of sniffing and bolting she will now happily go up to strangers for a stroke.......

This coming Wednesday there will be tears no doubt, a retired couple are coming to see her, and providing she gets on well with their dogs, she will be going home with them............at least we have helped her along the way of finding her own `forever home'.

Next Sunday we will hopefully be driving up to the M4 to one of the service area, to pick up another scared little dog, who desperately needs to be in a foster home, to learn about living in a home, and enjoying life as a pet dog that is loved........wonder what it will be this time that we choose, and how long we will have the delights of that little soul, to show him/her that the world isn't all mean, that there are nice people out there that want him/her to love and share their life with.

It's going to be hard, but so worth while.......
