Hello I am writing because I am trying to get some kind of advice about this issue been having this problem for a while light headedness and sometimes feeling dizzy I have been too a neurologist several times he felt that it was tmj so why would he prescribe meziline and muscle relaxers neither one help I noticed recently when I drink coke sodas it gives me a dizzy spell I like my job but this is really bothersome
You said: "when I drink coke sodas it gives me a dizzy spell" -- if you mean sugary soda, you should definitely get checked for diabetes. Glucose test takes 10 seconds - can borrow a friend's glucometer or buy your own at a local pharmacy. Walmart has the least expensive. If it's over 100 both before and 2 hours after eating, you need to get an A1C test for a 3-month reading from you doctor. And if that's over 5.5% then you should get checked for Type 1 autoantibodies too.
As far as TMJ, it is entirely possible. Doctors do not typically check for that in my experience. They tend to leave that up to dentists. If you grind your teeth &/or have an imbalance in your bite, even a small one, it could severely be impacting your nerves on one side of your face. Is your vertigo on one side. Does your jaw pop when you open it. Look in the mirror and open your mouth. Does it sort of open one one side and then down. If you have pain or annoyance on one side, put your finger there and open and close your jaw. It should be right in front of your ear, where that flap of cartilage is over the ear canal. If it's irritated, sometimes by rubbing that area lightly, you may feel an odd change. Well, I do anyway.
