Are you on medication for the high blood pressure? Medications can cause dizziness. What kind of blood work did you have done? Do you get headaches? Have you seen a neurologist? ENT's don't always test for everything when it comes to dizziness, sometimes you may need to see a neurologist. It might also be helpful to get another ENG at a different facility, with different equipment to see if they get the same results.

Hi, I don't know much about this, but my Dr. said if my vertigo doesn't go away in a month, she'll give me a cat scan of the inner ear.

I dont know if this will help but i will tell you what has helped me. Sometimes i get that swaying feeling when im trying to sit still or lying in bed.It like if my body is going back and forth but it's not it the balance in my inner ear.I go to the chirocpratic. now b/c i have such a senstive neck i dont get my neck cracked.The lady i go to does a gentle manunipulatation of my neck she some how puts me back. usually when i get those types of feeling is b/c my C1 in my neck is out.Now before i found her i was seeing another chricopratic and he would pop my back crack my neck and i would get dizzy or episode of vertigo then i got to the point that i couldnt read a book b/c i would get dizzy.I stopped seeing him.Do you have neck problems?I too had all the test done and all they said was that i had BPV.Oh another thing if i don't get enough sleep and rest it acts up.The swaying feeling.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I have been through every test and several doctors. I finally did my own research and with the help of my primary physician I was able to get it under control. My problem turned out to be something called Labrynitus. I am no expert so you might want to look it up on the internet and see if it fits. I do know that (and this was really hard to do but worth it) once I gave up caffeine I have rarely been dizzy. When I am dizzy I do a simple exercise on my bed that kind of puts those floaties in your inner ear back where they belong. I hope you find an answer soon.

Is your vertigo positional? BPPV, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo does come and go. When I first got it in my 20s I didn't realize until I went to an ENT that the vertigo only occurred when I turned my head to the right and laid down on my back with my head kept to the right. This can happen right or left and you will feel your eyes jerk back and forth. It started up again this year and I noticed the vertigo more when I put my head down while standing like when you are picking up an object. It gave me severe vertigo and I had to hold on to the counter to keep from falling. It can also make you nauseous. Pay attention to whether or not your vertigo is positional. If so, look up BPPV on the net for information. Some recent studies have linked BPPV to autoimmune thryoiditis. I was just diagnosed with autoimmune thyroidits in March of 2008, so now I'm wondering if they are indeed connected.

I had vertigo twice and I know the feeling that you are talking about because I would literally have to hold onto things to walk. After numerous tests my dr sent me to a physical therapist that dealt with balance disorders and to my surprise just doing the simple exercises the therapist had me do help a lot and the vertigo went away. I would recommend you to see a physical therapist that deals with balance and see if it helps you.

I'm not going to be much help in this for you, because I have had this crap for about 8 years
and at first I rushed to doctor after doctor and they weren't much help at all, most of them actually thought it was stress of course and then I have the reason for it because I had taken Leviquin for a UTI, because it did happen following two pills, and almost instantly my life changed forever and I am still trying to get some answers.. It is sad and depressing to say the least, it is dibilitating and no one unless they go through it can understand. Everytime in the past I was sent to have the ENG, we lost our health insurance so when I am able to have that done I guess I'll know more about why and what to do about it. I hope you can get
some answers to what is causing yours soon. It has caused me severe panic attacks and agoraphobia. I hardly go anywhere because it is so bad and I hate that, some days I can't drive because the dizziness and balance problems are so severe. Sometimes I can adjust pretty well, but I never know from one day to the next how bad it will be.

Hey Froggy, you should look into a condition called ototoxicity--that might explain what happened to you. It is a condition that is caused by certain antibiotics, and it destroys the balance organ in your ears.

The treatment is vestibular therapy, and sometimes certain medications can help with the symptoms. The medications that are useful for dizziness are also good for the panic, so if you can scrape up some money, you might want to consider a trial of klonopin or a low dose of an SSRI to see if it can help you function.

you need to check into Menieres Disease.

I agree with tampaelisa, I have a friend who is a physical therapist who specializes in balance restoration, and she gave me some very simple exercises to do with my eyes, and walking while turning my head side to side, and others. They worked, and I do them whenever I start having the dizzy symptoms. Find a PT who can help you figure out what exercises will help you. Hope you feel better soon.

My PT gave me a card that said OK taped on a pen. I have to move the card back and forth starting slow and eyes straight until tolerance, then I am supposed to move head side to side with card still, then in opposite directions. I am still on the first step in over a month. Just writing this gives me nausea. I had a concussion to start the vertigo, but in addition to out of blue,(rare now) I get vertigo from moving and especially people moving around me.

She tried the head moving exersize and did not seem to be errant otoliths, yet only one try and I fought it.
