Dizziness & Vertigo Support Group
Dizziness is the sensation of instability. Vertigo refers to dizziness with a sensation of motion. Vertigo is more likely than other types of dizziness to be associated with nausea, vomiting, or double vision, to occur even when lying down, and to feel better with the eyes closed. If you are a frequent sufferer of dizziness or vertigo, join the group and find support.
Did you used to be able to hear in your right ear? Is the hearing loss associated with your dizziness? Does it change -- get better or worse? Saying you feel "off balance" does sound like vertigo, which seems to often be associated with issues in or around the ear.
What do you mean your face hurts? Like sinus pain -- around your nose or in your cheeks? Or muscular / jaw pain? Is it mostly on one side?
I saw an allergist about eye pain I was having, and while I was allergic to a bunch of stuff, it turned out that, A) I sleep a lot when I get allergies, B) I like to sleep mostly face down on my right eye.
You could be having a couple of unrelated things happening at the same time. I certainly have -- takes time and self-monitoring to separate out what is going on. I often feel like a sponge for medical problems.
You should go to the doctor, but they don't always know what is happening. In my experience, if it's not obvious, then they can at least tell you what is NOT wrong. The laughing thing is curious.
I hope you can get to the doctor and they can at least rule out some things for you and maybe give you something to help. You may also want to talk to your Pharmacist about over-the-counter sinus meds you can take. My doctor has me on a generic of Singulair and I guess it does help some but not a whole lot. Hopefully you can find something that will really work for you.
I know how frustrating it is to go through a barrage of tests and have no conclusive anything. Ive been poke, prodded, and electricuted and scaned and put on the audio rollecoaster.
Based on a number of factors, i concluded it was jaw problems. I asked my hospital doctors if they thought it was plausible, and they were like, "who diagnosed you with this?" and i'm like, "me! All these specialists and not a one asked about my teeth or jaw." they would only say go see the dentist, which was next on my list anyway.
I told the DDS that I had vertigo and tinnitus and jaw aches and popping, and he says, "how did you come to think it was TMJ." and i said, "process of elimination, and all the signs and symptoms." He did not say, "yes, that's possible," or anything. I think he was being protective legally. He said it's complicated and he couldn't make any guarantees. $850 please.
Allmthat long drawn out wishywashy response makes it difficult to pick up, stay positive, and try a whole new set of procedures and experiments, but still -- i am hopeful, because someone has to look after me, even if that's a worn-down and confused remnant of my former self. I'm gonna get beyond this.
