Dizziness & Vertigo Support Group
Dizziness is the sensation of instability. Vertigo refers to dizziness with a sensation of motion. Vertigo is more likely than other types of dizziness to be associated with nausea, vomiting, or double vision, to occur even when lying down, and to feel better with the eyes closed. If you are a frequent sufferer of dizziness or vertigo, join the group and find support.
Actually- one that I tried was hydroxyzine. This didn't help me with my dizziness, but it didn't make me feel dizzier/lightheaded/tired.
That way if you ever do get the spins, you won't get as sick to your stomach. Good luck!
I also take benadryl to help clear up any fluid in my head, if I don't I get the spins. :-(
But Marah is right. Even assuming you found a dosage that didn't make you too drowsy (or you decide to use it despite the drowsy) it's not something you should rely on long-term.
For one thing, it doesn't actually treat the cause, it just makes your brain less aware of it. If your brain goes a long time being shielded from the feeling, it will go nuts when you remove that shield.
For another, if the cause of the dizzy progresses or intensifies, you'll eventually need to start taking stronger doses anyway.
If you're in a situation where you absolutely have to work or get some business done (or the dizzy is so overwhelming it's making you vomit) antivert is a great way to get you through that.
