I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

Howdy kids!
As I write this, our member jaycpea, is on her way to the courthouse to meet her attorney and go into what is called "Alternative Dispute Resolution." This is a fancy new name here in Maryland for court-ordered Mediation.

While I don't have a lot of confidence in the hammering out of a settlement today, I KNOW that jaycpea has got THE BETTER ATTORNEY and that JUSTICE will PREVAIL -- it just might not happen today.

I am asking all of you to please send up some prayers for calm and resolution for our friend and please send her some encouraging words that she will be able to read when she gets home this afternoon. I know she doesn't spend a lot of time on DS, but she SAYS "it's because I have Cowgirl Kathi so close by."

Mediation must be difficult - do they sit together in the same room? Do people actually LIE?! I've no idea, but I do know that I settled to avoid going to any kind of 'official' meeting, courtroom, mediation or otherwise. Didn't have the stomach for it, and my lawyer recommended against it anyhow! But sometimes, it's necessary....especially for the spouses who are so set on cheating their once significant other out of a future!

Go for it Jaycpea! My thoughts go out to her that she will be strong during the process, and come out with a fair settlement that will move her forward with dignity and financial security! Hugs!

Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers for you jaycpea. Stay calm and be true to yourself during this process....if you remain centred and firm it opens the door for the ex to hang himself all by himself. I know its hard to do because there is so much at stake...but trust us when we say...Karma always comes. I know all will work out well for you...Big Hugs...Kathy

Put on your game face and dress to kill. Wear your BEST tailored business suit and wear those heels. Look the part and play the role. Focus on the "financial" tangibles and stay away from liabilities as much as possible.

NEWSFLASH 1:33 p.m. Eastern Time
Just got a call from jaycpea. They didn't get to a complete settlement today, but they are really really close. Time ran out on the mediator (they only allotted 3 hours) but they will reconvene on November 15th. There is also a possibility that they could reach a final agreement independently before then.

Jaycpea promises to check in here and read all of your encouraging words when she gets home and has a chance to rest up a little bit. Thanks again for your unflagging support! xoxox

Glad she is doing well. I bet she's exhausted! It's an energy drainer for sure! When I did mine, we were in separate rooms and our lawyers just went back and forth. I had the better attorney (thank God). My ex was not too sharp with negotiating...that was a surprise to me since he's supposedly super business man of the world...lol.
Hope the rest of the case can be worked out between their attorneys. It's like a surgery day, taking out the old toxic tumor...now the patient must rest and heal!

Easy done, CGK. My prayers are on their way. I've come in a bit late but maybe they'll help with the end of the process.

Jaycpea, I remember how exhausting and confusing my settlement was. Sleep well, and please let us know how it went.

My dear friends of DS, all I can say is that the sisterhood here is amazing!!! You are all so bright and lovely, I feel the love and pain from each of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I would never be in this state of mind or have had this much needed strength without CGK, she is my in person Angel. Today was a GOOD day, I have the best attorney and friends! I slept deeply for 2 hours after getting home today, and now I am happy, laughing and playing enjoyably, genuinely, with my dog for the first time in I can't remember how long! I wish the best for you all, I felt the power of Love from you all today! Feel my hug!

I will be sending a prayer your way Jaycpea, I went through a judicial case conference (Canada) ex was present both lawyers and a judge of a type, not much fun but when it was over...... It was OVER my road to healing could begin then so good luck girl (hugs)

    I had gone to the grocery store.  When I wheeled my cartback to my car I just stool there a minute.  A few spacesaway a Tesla Cyber truck was parked.  I had seen it on theroad a few times for a few seconds.  But not close up.It looked like it belonged to 2126 and not 2026.  I wasgoing to take a picture of the car but the owners cameback and drove away.  It was an ordinary middle age...
