Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group

I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...

I should have listened to that voice in the back of my head when I was walking down the aisle 30 years ago...but I do have 3 wonderful young adult children and that, I will never, ever regret....they are my loves.

Thanks for sharing this. My soon-to-be ex really should have been a season in my life - he definitely was not a root of the tree Madea spoke about.

An exerpt from the video.....place the people you know in 3 categories
1. Leaves - unstable sway with the wind and eventually fall off
2. Branches - seem stable but often break when stepped on
3. Roots - sustain the life of the tree

My X and his family were leaves in my life, my friends are the branches but my children, my family and God are the roots.

I saw this and want this to be my mantra for awhile. When I get down I want to try and remember to tell myself , if people in your like want to leave, let them leave. I have to tell myself, X did not want to stay. I just get STUCK sometimes. I'll probably have to refer to Madea's advice several times. Even though I am divorced , I still have trouble with this.
