Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
I always go back to a quote I read in someone's book: "Why do you think we call them the X?" If two people can really talk, compromise and be "friendly" I always wonder why they got a divorce in the first place!
In any event, I am breathing a huge sigh of relief that you called this fellow and told him the way it HAS to be. Now the hard part is going to be keeping him at arm's length while you focus on re-building YOUR OWN LIFE post divorce. It's not the easiest thing in the world and it's not always fun, but to NOT to this would be short-changing yourself. You have set some necessary BOUNDARIES and there is no need to explain or rehash them with this guy. To do so only weakens the boundary!
Hang in there and keep us posted. This is forward movement and we are here to keep pushing you along! Big hugs on a rainy afternoon in Maryland.xoxox
