Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
When I first left my ex, a very strange thing happened to me. For a few months, I actually felt like the 13yo who I was before I met my ex in August of that year. I even thought of myself as my name then - the same nickname I had then, which is different now, and my maiden name. It was very weird.
I think I went back there so that I could grow up properly, without my ex's influence, as I should have if I hadn't met him. Quite without intent. It just happened.
Now you've helped me realise that I went there to remember who I am as well. Thank you for that. I most definitely have remembered who I am and have been working on being my real self so hard. I am not that sad, hurt, angry person I lived with for so long. I'm a happy, loving, fun-loving, kind and generous, spiritual person who's been held down for too many years. LOOK OUT WORLD :)

But I do hate the word can't. I heard that word from my mother way too many times. Usually when I wanted to go somewhere and she didn't want to bother with me. I would walk miles to get to the library and miles back home with the books I had picked out. I really really hate the word can't. Can't never could do anything and I'm moving on and making a life for myself.
