My Son was married a couple days ago and my Daughter will be married in a couple months. I have to say that I've been experiencing those internal roller coaster feelings, along with some sadness. As a single parent I raised my youngest son from the age of 12, and to see him now in the Military and being married, has set me back to those feelings of a lose, similar to what I experienced when my wife walked out the door 8 yrs. ago. I know theses feelings are temporary, and that I'll get through it, just as I did with the divorce.

After the wedding my sister-in-law (former spouses sister) said "Bill as I saw you sitting in church with her, I just couldn't understand why she would have just walked away. My only reply was "I never understood either".

I truly believe that a majority of us on "Divorce After Twenty Years Together" are individuals that were hurt, and want to go through the healing process, by interacting with others that have been down that dark road of divorce.

This site has been a tremendous help to me, in realizing that my situation is not unique, based on the discussions I've read over the years.
