Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
Glad the link worked! We're always open to new members as everyone brings something different to the "party" and we all benefit from the wisdom of individuals' experiences.
As to being 60 and "alone" -- I'm 62 and have been what I call "flying solo" for over 3 years now. Yes, I have dated a few guys, but haven't come across any who I really clicked with or that I had enough interest in to want the relationship to go beyond casual dating. I'm at the point in my life where if I do meet someone and "live happily ever after" that would be nice, but it's not necessary. I think most of us "long-timers" here feel the same way.
Again, welcome to our group!

You sound like an AWESOME lady! Your story of survival is inspiring and it sounds like you have the right outlook. I am looking very forward to getting to know you better!
Again, a very sincere welcome! You are among friends here!
You might do better to remember people by nature are simply equal opportunist. Because you DO have something of value, mature single women might need to discern whether a suitor wants just your "cookie" or wants "what" you do have. Just saying, you are now wiser. Welcome to peaceful Singlehood and to Divorce 20+.
I am your age, separated and then divorced 7 1/2 years. I was with my ex for 39 years altogether. He wasn't a sociopath - more of a narcissistic workaphile - emotionally unavailable for sure - one of those wolves in sheep's clothing. I'm happy being free of that marriage and am still dealing with trust.
I found this site in 2010 and it was an absolute Godsend. I'm glad you found us.
love and hugs

As for dating and relationships I live in a retirement community 55 and older and see many happy
70 and 80 year olds dateing and even getting married so there is always hope.
I myself have trust issues so it will be awhile before I date.
Again welcome.
My STBX was indeed a wolf in sheep's clothing.......I love the analogy and will think of him that way from now on. Heehee! Just like the cartoon with the sneaky wolf coming up on the poor unsuspecting sheep. But now my blinders are off and I can only state how grateful I am that I was able to recognize him for what he really was before I was devoured!
I am very fulfilled with my rediscovered connection to myself and with the friends I have made and continue to make on DS. And I count you as one of those! You add a lot to our group! Thank you!
Welcome to the group! You truly have an amazing attitude. I still have good days & bad days. Trying to stay focused on the "new life", just not sure where or how that will be at this point. Still taking one day at a time.
You will receive all of the support that you will need from these wonderful people. We all have different experiences & perspectives yet all are helpful in healing.
You have been through so much already & are a great inspiration to us. Welcome aboard, TCB
