Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
I LOVED my ex family. My Father in Law, my ex's cousins, aunts, sisters, etc... I have stayed in touch with all of through social media and the occasional visit or word from my kids. My ex FIL just had heart surgery so I was staying up on his condition (not visiting though), but the last few times I posted a comment on one of the family's pages about his condition, my ex's new GF posts right below me. I am feeling the extreme awkwardness and the push out of this circle. My ex says don't worry - they still love you, but must I defriend them now? I feel so hurt and abandoned once again. My logical mind says this is natural, but my heart still aches so much......

Iammine - I think one of the reasons we need a special group just for people who've been married over 20 years, is exactly that - because it's not as easy to dismiss people after forming special relationships - sharing friends - becoming family with in-laws - that love just doesn't disappear after 20+ years. I do understand that many of on this group had very painful and hateful situations - there was no hate in mine - but even if my ex and I did have hate I would still care for and love his family and our shared friends. Being only 3 years into this, I am still finding out what works and what relationships will slowly fade away.
