Hi jljlost, in the end, no nail painting at all!! Turned out those dear little fellows (7,6and 4) spent half the day helping scrub down their pushbikes and also cleaning some of the outside of their house as well as wiping down the trampoline. I thought that was enough fior one day so they played instead:) but they did make me a beautiful card and jewellery:) I also received lots of cuddles. Couldn't have felt more content as my other two kids had called as well. A beautiful day.

My heart goes out to everyone who struggles with this day. It was very difficult during the estrangement years and I'll never forget them.

I'm not a big fan of Mother's Day. Too many times of not hearing from my girls. Even when I was married horses still had to be fed and meals cooked. My youngest did call. We had a lovely conversation about little Zoe's ballet recital as I was feeding and scrubbing water troughs. I haven't heard from my oldest for several months. That means she is doing okay. I had an absolutely nice day here by myself. The weather was perfect and the dogs behaved. A nice quiet day at home. I hope you all had a good Mother's Day.

Hoping all the mothers here found a way to celebrate with children near, far or passed. My son isn't great at Mother's day. Although we always celebrated Father's day, and their birthdays, I arranged it. No one arranged anything for mine, so it got overlooked more often than not.

However, this year, my son planned a day together, just the two of us. We took a day trip, enjoyed a great lunch in a park and placed flowers at my daughter's grave. We had a good visit, good conversation and lovely weather.

Even the years that weren't recognized by anyone but myself, I took time to reflect on the many blessings I had with my son, and the very short time I had with my daughter. Hoping you all had something good on your special day.

MNMama - it's even better when it's unprecedented. At least that's how I felt - I expected nothing from my son, so when he bought me a massage gift certif, sent me a sweet note AND took me to dinner I was floored and very grateful at his efforts. And for a 23 year old to stay home all day with his mom is pretty unusual too. Glad yours turned out better than you expected.

Nice CMonge! Yeah, those young adult sons..... they can really surprise us, and when they come through, it's in Aces! Makes me so happy when they demonstrate they can be better men than their fathers. Glad you had a wonderful day too.
