Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
Well I finally did it... I set up the initial appt. with the lawyer. I just can't take it anymore, and I am finally facing the truth that it's really over. The pain and heartbreak has just come flooding back, and I'm still shaking my head at the whole situation. At some point I need to come out of the denial and start moving forward. I guess today is that day. But it feels like another stab to the heart. How do you unravel a life of 25 years together? (I guess I'm going to find out) Needless to say, it's a sad day for me. I just can't believe she's throwing this all away...
I know in my heart that this is going to blow up in her face - that her star-crossed lover idea will vanish and she'll be left with the stark reality of what she's done, and that the OM is not really what she thought. (I still can't figure out the spell he has over her) And that's what really hurts. I can see how this plays out, and she'll be a mess. I just hope I am strong enough for that. It's going to be a long weekend!

And, Kathy is right, most states are now no fault. So, her adultery will likely have no bearing on your final divorce resolution. It kinds sucks, I know. But, as I said in another post, Karma is a bitch and she keeps and settles the score eventually. Don't get too hung up on trying to settle the score. Just take care of yourself and tend to your needs. She will get hers in the end, in one way or another.
