Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
I am continuing with trauma therapy (EMDR and SE) 3 years post beginning of the end ( I do believe I am nearing the end) and my summer work is to journal, role play, and do imaging beginning with a common beginning statement that often flits through my head "I can't believe you....."
At least for me, better to be in the anger than in the despair (victim), but my goal is to be a place where it no longer flits through my head several (or more) times a day. Honestly, today as I imagined myself facing my ex in the courtroom (with all our family and friends in the 'audience') and able to tell him the many things I can't believe he did or said, I almost felt giddy. Wouldn't that be a great place to be?
Here's to getting rid of a spouse who is the WRONG spouse (different for each of us) ...
