Divorce after Twenty years together Community Group
I want to start something for those of us that were married for a long long time. I think that we face a little different issues than those who were dating for a few years or even married for shorter period of time. Being married for so long we have older children some have grandkids dealing with teenagers and their reaction to the divorice empty nesters dating after 40...
Today I made the difficult decision to end my first post-divorce relationship. In doing so, I realized that I had never been the one to break up before. I have to say, I'm not a fan. I don't like hurting someone else. But, I took great care to be honest and kind, the way that I wished my ex had treated me when he left me. While I'm a little sad that things didn't work out, I know it was for the best. He wasn't the right man for me. It feels so good to know that I have enough self-love to turn away from someone who isn't good for me. The old me would have just kept trying harder to make things work. Sometimes, they just aren't meant to. I've learned quite a lot about myself, and I'm truly grateful for the experience. I can only hope and pray that one day the right man will walk into my life and stay. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy life as fully as I can.

Hey, we have to test the waters to know what the temperature is, right? What works today.....well, it might not work tomorrow or..... next month or year!. We've ALL been around the block (or corral for all you cowgirls!) a few times and I think we have enough life experience to figure out when the real thing comes along. And if we DON'T trust ourselves anymore (our spidey senses just aren't that well tuned?!) well, that's okay too! That's a GOOD reason to stay SINGLE I'd say!

This July 19th we will be married 3 years already.
We get along ok. Still I had to give and take.
