Well, my road to Hell is always paved with good intentions.
I did 8 sessions at Curves on the 10 for $10 plan -- then got called back to my part-time, seasonal job. However, I DID make it to Wednesday's Awareness Through Movement class AND I worked Rio in the round pen twice this week (between rain showers) AND got all the mowing and weed whacking finished AND picked up 6 bales of "representative hay" -- need to line up a helper to go with me next week to get a full load (110 bales between my truck and flatbed trailer).
I keep trying!

I'm going to jump on this band wagon also since I need incentive to start swimming laps so I can participate in the local Senior Games (yes, it has come to that) in February. I just have a hard time getting motivated to head to the pool in the winter at 6AM when it is 20 below or so and right now I haven't located another fool to join me. Maybe if I have to check in weekly here, I'll get it done. If I do it at least 3 times a week, I should be good. I have no problem with doing weights, yoga, cross country skiing, or any other aerobics....just the swimming.

I decided my 30-day challenge is to write nightly in my journal and so far so good. I'm also including the things I'm grateful for everyday. Last night it was short since it was late, I was tired and I have a cold. I was just grateful for the sleeping Chessie by the bed. So I guess it has come to this....

You better believe it counts Pam!! This can't be an exercise thread if we're talking about Fried Snickers Bars!! Lol.

I made my two laps around the field with Zee and Joe joined us for the last lap. I had to put blankets on three horses. Carried the blankets across the field and watch that I wasn't shoved around. It's all exercise that adds up. Feed time tonight took two hours of constant bending, stooping and walking. I'm going to try to get on the treadmill tonight.

Trisha, your daily life is more exercise than I get in a week, and you are going to get on the treadmill? How do you do it!

My exercise for the day consisted of lugging I don't know how many buckets of manure to the trash and then beginning to clean the hay shed in preparation for the new hay which should be delivered sometime this month. I rode both horses for about an hour each. I decided to double up since I would be gone most of tomorrow to attend a TEDx event in Jackson...the first ever for Wyoming. Both horses did really well although I have a hard time keeping the big horse together at a canter. At least I no longer get whip lash when he falls out of the canter into a trot. I still need to work on getting a balanced transition there...I'm probably overhorsed. I also walked the dog for about 1/2 hour or so...but I always do that. I wanted to go swim laps but didn't because I have a cold and a mild sore throat. Let's not make it worse.

How much weight do you want to lose, Diane? I wish there were dance classes here. That actually sounds like fun.

I'm grateful that the cat in my lap decided 12 years ago that our hay shed was the perfect place to have her kittens. And believe me, she is even more grateful than I am!

Muck tubs of manure are heavy. I worked on a farm while I was trying to get on this land where I live now. I already have my winter hay stored away. I so wish Zee was well and I could ride again. I was overhorsed when I was riding Joe. This riding a lesson horse once a week is doing nothing for me.

Muck tubs? Don't you gals have WHEELBARROWS?

Wheelbarrows won't roll into a manure spreader. There is nothing like picking up a muck tub of manure and pouring it into a manure spreader that is chest high. Builds muscles and determination.

My muck tub is in a cart but I still have to lift it and empty it in the big trash bin which is tall. It is almost like doing overhead lifts but not quite. I only fill the tub half full...I don't want to pull a back muscle. Been there done that and not a good idea these days.

You can also use a manure fork to toss some of it into the trash bin and then lift the muck tub to pour out. I spent several years cleaning stalls for a part time job. I could clean 7 stalls, feed 20 horses and blanket several in the winter. I got to drive the tractor to empty the manure spreader and she wanted all that done in 3 hours. Set up the beet pulp and sweep out the barn. Rain or shine. I'm glad I work for myself now and I sit in the comfort of my truck to drag the fields to break up the manure. I'll get my exercise some other way.

Once again you girls are making me feel like a Pansy city-girl. I'll bet you each could do 10 times (or more) what I do in a day. I would like to lose 24 pounds by spring. I got my dance classses in today but I ate way too much and a lot of bad stuff. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
