Hi guys i just have a question i was in the hospital about a month ago and was discharged with antibiotics for the diverticulitis infection... I noticed that the pain left but every now and then i will feel pressure and sometimes sharp pain.. Now the pain isnt that bad at all it just scares me and a bit uncomfortable.. It goes away after a couple of days but then it comes back... Does anyone else go through this? Any advice?.?

I’m on Cipro and Metronidazole for an episode I had on the 29th. This is my 3rd one in 2 years. I know what your talking about. I’m just wondering if they are phantom pains. It worries me to the point where I keep pressing on my left side.

Yes, it happens to most of us. Don't panic, I had my first attack November 1st 2017, the pain went away with the antibiotics, I did the bowell rest on clear liquids for 5 days, then a low fiber / residue diet for 3 weeks. Then 6 weeks later started getting the pain just like you described off and on and got scared went back on another round of antibiotics, by the time I got an appointment with my gastroenterologist, it probably was a mild attack that did not need antibiotics at all. the most important thing is to watch what you're eating!

Chrisdiver thats the hardest part is to watch what im eating... I just had a ct the other day and waiting for the result.. When i was in the er i was told that i might need surgery.... Anyways i will be you all posted... Thanks again!

Hi Chrisdiver! So i just came back from thr Drs office for the ct result and was told that the swelling has gone down.. Next step is a lower GI test so ill keep you updated.... How is it going for you? Have you made any changes to your diet??? How has this illness affected your life?

Hey David, I'm so happy to hear your test results were good. I'm having some intestinal issues. I'm trying to take my own advice and not panic, LOL, I think I'm doing the right things as far as diet goes and then I get constipated, I get worried, then I overdo it on fiber, you just get so scared you're going to have to do another round of antibiotics and I don't think my body could take another round six weeks after the last one. I am so tired and frustrated of always worrying about every ache and pain below my belly button!

Antibiotics strip all the flora of your intestinal wall.!!! Get the book diverticulitspainfreefood.com --they tell you all about. I take oil of oregano (a natural antibiotic) there is also GSE (grapefruit seed extract) when I feel something coming on. this has worked numerous times and kept me out of the ER and antibiotics!! Now a food combine and take slippery elm before I eat. All this in the book along with recipes - and they have a tea too --and the Facebook page is people like us that suffer from this and you get some good advice and people have been pain free for years on this--check it out

I am new to this site & not sure if I know how to use it. I'm not sure if I have diverticulitis but the dr. at the ER seems to think so. After reading about the symptoms I think I do. I have a history of Endometriosis & adhesions so I'm not sure what I have but I have been in real bad pain for 19 days now. I've been to the dr. & ER & nobody knows anything. I have an appointment with my surgeon next week to see what he says. I had adhesions removed less than 2 yrs ago but I don't know if this pain is from that or diverticulitis. I hate to go through another laparoscopy unless it is necessary. Do you have to be on antibiotic to get rid of the pain.? Is there anything besides cypro to take bc I have a very delicate stomach & cypro is very harsh. Any feed back would be helpful. Thank you. tigreyes

I have that problem too. I do have a little panic attack when it happens, and of course it is usually nothing, but I do think of it is a little warning that maybe I ate something that is ticking off that spot, and it is giving me a little nudge to think about what I'm eating. I had some peanuts a few months ago and I got a few of those. Of course you do it enough and you get another flare up like I have now. I wish my memory was longer
