I am mostly here to learn as much as I can about how to avoid killing myself (on accident of course). I've spent a good portion of today on different websites, reading comments, journal posts, etc. It's crazy how so many people attribute their cases to so many different causes. I've described my bouts and what i think caused them so far. I suppose I can edit this when (not if) I learn more about all of this.
Today is my first day with no pain and the struggle to not eat anything substantial is difficult. I had 2 king's hawaiian rolls, lots of water, tea, and broth today. Tomorrow I need to go to work, I will have to eat more and am thinking of peanut butter and jelly....

This year I have has 3 bouts.
August 2015
Had pain for over a week, thought I was constipated but that was stupid because I could go. Finally, the pain was unbearable, particularly under the belly button and groin - specifically the testicles.
Went to urgent care and was transferred to ER. CT scan showed diverticulitis, I was hospitalized and given IV meds. 3 days later I went home.
Likely causes were stress, low fiber diet, fast food, greasy food, and sunflower seeds (lots of them)
November 2015
Went to urgent care with mild pain similar to before, can't remember if the groin pain was there, but the belly pain was. Informed them I recently had diverticulitis and it felt similar and they gave me the Cipr and Flagyl.
I was liquid diet all week leading up to thanksgiving and the first thing I ate was a tamale with hot sauce (don't do that)
Likely causes were stress, fast food.
January 2016
Went to ER with same symptoms. I was worse than the 2nd time and not as bad as the first time. definitely also had the groin pain this time.
Had a CT scan this time, divierticulitis again. Went home same day with Cipro and Flagyl.
Likely causes were stress, fast food, popcorn, almonds (lots of them).
My pain doesn't seem to be on the left side as the pamphlets always state. Mine seems centered over belly button
I have never felt nauseated or get loose stools during these episodes, but do get the pain, bloating and gas.
I do know that any pressure such as trying to urinate, defacate, or pass gas will add to the pain level but completoing any of those tasks will lower the overall pain level for a short time.
My resulting colonoscopy discovered polyps, they removed them and tested them to say they were precancerous. Which may mean any polyp at all- but hey- I take that as a lucky win I guess.

Like you, my pain is in the center of my abdomen. The bloating is horrid, the gas can make my dog jump off my lap. I don't go to the er when the pain starts up, I'm too afraid they will keep me. So I just stay home, take aspirin and pray it kicks in and stops the pain.
