Yes it makes you tired and the antibiotics can make you feel sick also, I would suggest you read the old posts up here and anything you want to know about Diverticulitis can be found on the Mayo Clinic Web site. Also you will find a Diet for Diverticulitis attacks.
If you were on a clear liquid diet, the pain would probably be gone in a couple of days. After the pain is gone start slowly on LOW fiber foods for at least a couple of weeks before adding fiber. If your gut hurts after you eat something----don't eat it again.

I did read a lot of input from people and found out most Dr's do not have a clue they should be telling people to go on a clear liquid diet till the pain goes away. I have even argued with a couple of Dr's and finally pulled out a copy of the Mayo Clinic and asked the Dr. if he thinks the Mayo Clinic is wrong?
I know the Dr's have a lot to deal with, and it is especially hard when things change. We just have to look out for ourselves and Google a lot.
Second, when I had my issues, the pain was on both sides. When I had surgery, we found out that my ascending colon, as well as some small intestines) had made fistulas into my sigmoid colon. So the surgeon took those pieces out as well.
Chances are if you have diverticulitis with serious flare ups, you have not only one pocket of disease but some other issues as well.
Sadly, I had my surgery and still have issues every now and again (needed IV antibiotics a little while ago). It sucks.
