Just joined and read a few of the posts, all I can say is damn, you guys have been through a lot, but it's nice to know I am not alone.
I was diagnosed with "severe" diverticulitis in September 2012. The surgeon who did my colonoscopy told me to go home and think about my options, to decide if I wanted to have surgery. He also said "with what I saw when I was in there, I would not hesitate to take you into surgery", so I decided to do it. November 2012 he did the surgery, but instead of removing the damaged section he saw a section of my large intestine that had twisted, so he removed that and left the rest as it was. A stitch let go, I went septic, 5 days after first surgery I had a second one. That left me with a temporary colostomy bag. Fast forward to May 2013, getting ready to have the reversal surgery when they find a spot on my lung and diagnose me with emphysema. June 2013 had the reversal surgery, July 2013 had upper left lobe of my lung removed due to lung cancer. February 2014 I had an incisional hernia from where the bag had been repaired. October 2015 had to have my gallbladder removed, and November 2015 I had to have the small hernia re-repaired, and a large abdominal hernia also repaired. In all this other crap, we had forgotten about the diverticulitis. Any time I had abdominal pain, I would assume it was something I had eaten (I am lactose intolerant, and gluten sensitive.) Never thought it might be the diverticulitis until recently. A few months ago I would up in the hospital due to a section of my small intestine being pushed in/bent by some scar tissue. Three days in the hospital on a liquid diet, issue resolved itself, I went home. But I still had stomach pain anytime I ate anything. Doctors all said " well your only 7 weeks post op, your gonna have some pain. The pain did stop on its own. Now here I am again, cramps any time I eat anything. It has been getting less painful each day (been 7 days), and as long as I eat small meals, the pain is not bad, today I have been mostly pain free.
Oh, and I just found out last week that I have Barrett's Esophagus.

Diagnosed just this week with "D".
I'm on antibiotics now for three days and feeling better.
Try to watch what I eat. Mostly eating soups.
Like kittyk96, I have other medical problems.
I hope to learn more about D and better ways to cope with it.

I am finally seeing a new gastro in a few weeks. Hopefully I will get some real medical help. I hope you are feeling better.
