I am confused & worried

I have been dx with diverticular disease through colonoscopies & had a doppler ultrasound it showed that I am severely constipated. I saw the Dr the same day & he said I have got pockets spreading a fair distance of the abdomen which is why I am in pain. He has put me on the urgent wait list for a gastroscopy which should be within 30 days.
In the meantime he gave me some movitol which is supposed to clear me out in 24-48 hours. Instead had it has done nothing & I havent had a bowel movement since then. That was Thursday & I started drinking the stuff that night & it is now Tuesday night & all I have had is a couple of minor bm's.
I am in constant pain that nothing is helping.
I dont know whether to go back to the hospital but the dr there said even if I went to er all they would do is give me medications & send me home so I dont know what to do.
Surely its not usual or good to be that constipated but I dont know what to do.
Any advice would be welcome & appreciated

Yes either go back to the hospital which I would be doing or call the doc and tell them what is happening or even call and tell them that you are going back to the hospital. It is a very dangerous thing to go so long without getting your bady cleared out. You really could suddenly be unable to call or tell anyone from the toxicity that can and will develope without sufficient cleaning out your tummy. I was like that with a bowel obstruction and this can cause one of those. Please tell doc or go asap. I will worry 'bout you till you do. I was completely unable to tell anyone anything and if it werent for my kids carrying me to the car and taking me to ER I wouldnt be writing to you now!!!

Ah you poor thing! I was in horrible pain with my diverticulitis and I was not constipated so you must feel even worse then I did. Why has you doctor not given you antibiotics to clear up the infection. It's the only way to get rid of it. The antibiotics are not pleasant I will be honest but it's better then the pain and discomfort. Please go see another doctor ok? Go to the emergency room and they will in all likelihood give you two different antibiotics to get rid of the infection.

Thank you both for your replies. I finally spoke to a nurse at the gastro clinic at the hospital in the city ( where I have been seeing them & she said "no point coming in here we cant do any more for you yet, go to your local gp". To say I was gobsmacked is putting it mildly.
The pain is getting a bit worse & spreading so I am going to the local hospital in the morning. The small leakages I was having earlier have stopped. I have already had both major bowel bladder surgery surgery & some bladder surgery so hope nothing major.

I was in too much pain the last couple of days & with 7 days of no bowel motion other than leaks I went to the local hospital. I was fortunate & seen fairly quickly. They did an sray which showed no blockage so gave me a fleet enama which at least moved some. They also dihey d a ct scan. Tdidnt find anything to concern & said its not diverticulitis but constipation from the diverticular disease.The only thing they did note (on report to Dr) is - "ongoing surveilanceof the largely benign appearing mildly enlarged lymph node in the anterior/inferior abdomen may be of use in future.No suspicious findings on current series." Whatever that means.
At least it has eased the pain a bit but it is still very sore. Still no more answers to what is wrong too. Got the letter that I am on waiting list for colonoscopy at main city hospital so hope that comes sooner than later. I am to have double the movicol & see if that helps too.
