On trial and error, almonds definitely trigger an attack for me. A mild one, but bad enough to avoid them.
I was looking at the FDA requirements of 35-39 grams of fiber per day! The FDA generally recommends the average for a healthy person. I'm wondering if our consumption of fiber should be a bit higher? Of course, all that fiber isn't doing us any good unless we drink enough water.
I can't seem to get enough fiber to make things "work" properly....and my stomach seems to stay bloated.
Does anyone recommend a gentle laxitive that might keep things cleaned out every now and then?
I was recently diagnosed thru a colonoscopy. I have been relatively lucky to maintain daily BM's with high fiber and lots of water. I also workout daily which helps me drink lots of water in the morning to get it all moving. I also eat oatmeal, either old faashioned oats or steel cut with raisins or dates and some ground flax seed mixed in. I make enough for a week and freeze daily portions. As far as laxatives go, I have been using an herbal lax called SWISS KRISS for 25 yrs. You can buy it in any GNC nutritional store. I noticed that the more vegetaian foods I eat, the better off I am. I also eat all whole grain products, fruit and veggies daily.
Hope this helps
